Clear aligners are often considered more comfortable than braces because they use smooth, removable trays without brackets or wires that can irritate the inside of your cheeks and gums. Invisalign and Spark aligners are custom-made to fit snugly over your teeth, although some temporary pressure or discomfort is normal as your teeth begin to move.
The best way to clean clear aligners is to rinse them with lukewarm water, gently brush them with a soft-bristled toothbrush and clear soap, and rinse again. You should also soak them in a cleaning solution daily to remove buildup and clean areas that brushing may miss.
To protect your aligners from damage, remove them before eating or drinking anything other than water and store them in their protective case when they’re not in your mouth. Avoid exposing your aligners to hot water or other sources of heat, as high temperatures can warp the trays.
During clear aligner treatment, you’ll have periodic appointments so your orthodontist can monitor your progress and make sure your teeth are moving as planned. At Orthobar, these visits are typically scheduled every 6–10 weeks, depending on your individual treatment plan.
