Meet Dr. Kory Grahl, DMD, FAGD, a highly experienced orthodontist in Las Vegas, passionate about creating confident, healthy smiles through personalized care.
Patients are drawn to Dr. Kory Grahl not just for his expertise in creating beautiful smiles and strong bites but for his genuine care and dedication.
Dr. Grahl attended Western New England University (WNEU) in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Minors in Chemistry and Forensic Science.
While completing his education at WNEU, he served as the team captain of the school’s NCAA Division III ice hockey team. Dr. Grahl continued his pursuit of education by attending the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine (UNLV), where he graduated with Honors and was accepted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Honors Society.
Before attending an orthodontic residency, Dr. Grahl practiced privately as a general dentist, practicing all facets of dentistry with a special focus on esthetic and cosmetic dentistry.
Currently, he’s a fellow at the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). With a rare combination of hands-on dental experience and specialized orthodontic training, Dr. Grahl has made his mark as Nevada’s only Kois-Recognized Specialist (Orthodontist).
Dr. Grahl’s experience in private practice furthered his continued appreciation for the field of orthodontics. He accepted a position in orthodontic residency at UNLV School of Dental Medicine, where he completed his specialty training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. Simultaneously, he earned his Master’s Degree in Oral Biology, with his research focused on alternative bracket design, and he even has a patent pending.
Beyond his practice, Dr Grahl spends his time at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine and serves in a leadership position focused on patient care and clinical services for the pre-doctoral program. He earned his certification from the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) in October 2024, a prestigious accomplishment that represents a key achievement for an orthodontist.
His commitment to the latest advancements in orthodontics, from groundbreaking research on alternative bracket designs to his prestigious certification from the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), shows his dedication to providing top-tier care. Patients trust Dr. Grahl and Dr. Petersen because their approach blends technical skill with compassion, making every visit feel personal and focused on their unique needs.
Understanding how to treat patients is one thing — continuing research that advances the science of orthodontics is another. The Kois Center in Seattle is a unique continuing education program that performs independent research and updates courses based on new findings.
As the only Kois-recognized specialist in Las Vegas, Dr. Grahl completed the entire Kois orthodontics curriculum. This training helps him perform the most advanced orthodontic procedures, helping our patients achieve outstanding smiles.
What sets an orthodontist apart from other dentists? To be recognized by the American Association of Orthodontists, AAO hopefuls must successfully complete an accredited residency program after dental school.
To receive his membership, Dr. Grahl had to complete extra years of training to specialize in moving teeth, bite correction, and improving facial esthetics. Our Las Vegas patients can rest assured that they are in the good hands of an AAO specialist like Dr. Grahl.
During his time as a general dentist, he completed numerous hours of continuing education to stay ahead of the curve in dentistry and orthodontics. As a Fellow at the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Grahl sets himself apart as one of the top orthodontists in the nation.
In fact, only 6% of dentists have achieved the AGD Fellowship.
An AGD Fellowship is awarded to AGD members who excel in their continuing education. To achieve this award, Dr. Grahl had to complete 500+ hours of continuing education courses, pass a comprehensive written exam, and maintain his membership for at least three continuous years.
Not all orthodontists have obtained their board certification— in fact, fewer than half of all orthodontists are board-certified.
Board certification is a significant achievement that marks the final step in a long, comprehensive educational journey. It’s more than just an additional title; it’s a testament to an orthodontist’s expertise, commitment to the highest standards of care, and dedication to continuous learning.
To become board-certified, an orthodontist like Dr. Grahl must pass a demanding series of written and clinical exams. In addition, their credentials, knowledge, and practical skills are thoroughly reviewed to ensure they meet the rigorous standards set by the American Board of Orthodontics.
During his time as a general dentist, he completed numerous hours of learning how to transform smiles with implants. Studying to become an Affiliate Associate Fellow requires the dedication to continue mastering surgical skills that make a dentist effective at replacing teeth.
To achieve his Fellowship, Dr. Grahl completed an extra 300 hours of continuing education in implant dentistry and passed comprehensive exams demonstrating his knowledge.
This commitment to excellence proves that Dr. Grahl understands the need for dental implants and can work effectively with the patients’ referring dental care provider to ensure proper space is created for tooth replacement.
Outside of work, Dr. Grahl is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Rachael, and they have two young children, BriarRose and Kent James. When he’s not being a devoted husband and father, Dr. Grahl enjoys activities that promote his mental and physical well-being, including strength training, nutrition, competitive sports, reading, and coaching his kids.
