Dr. Petersen and Dr. Grahl provide surgical orthodontic treatment in two phases: pre-surgical and post-surgical care. In the pre-surgical phase, the teeth are positioned in their proper alignment for surgical facial and bite correction. Our trusted colleagues then complete the surgical phase in oral surgery. After healing, the post-surgical phase focuses on finalizing and fine-tuning your bite and smile, completing your treatment the Orthobar Way.

Some surgical orthodontic procedures we offer in the office include laser gingivectomy to level the gingival (gum) heights, temporary anchorage devices (TADS) used for anchorage in complex orthodontic movements, and Mini-screw Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion (MARPE).

We use advanced surgical lasers to perform gingivectomies that adjust your gum heights to treat gummy smiles and tooth asymmetries. These dental-specific lasers give you precise results with minimal discomfort.

Installing a temporary anchorage device enables us to add a new anchoring point to the jaw, facilitating more predictable and complex tooth movement. We use these screw-like implants in place of more invasive treatments like headgear and remove them after treatment/movements are complete.

MARPE enhances your dental arch without major palatal surgery and is effective in teens and adults with fully developed palates. These temporary implants in the roof of the mouth use gentle pressure to correct skeletal expansion and make space to correct overcrowding.
